On November 26th, 2017, at 1103 hours, Fergus County Sheriff’s dispatch received a call of bones possibly human found on a ranch SE of Winifred.
A Fergus County Sheriff’s Deputy responded and gathered information and secured the bones. On Tuesday, November 28th, Fergus County Sheriff’s Department and Fergus County Coroner’s Office Personnel responded to the scene. Additional evidence was gathered at the scene and all returned to Lewistown. It was confirmed to be human remains and forwarded to the Montana State Crime Laboratory in Missoula for testing. These tests will take several weeks to be completed. The bones found are human but are not a recent death.
This remains under investigation by the Fergus County Sheriff’s Department and the Fergus County Coroner’s Office.
